WHO IS TAYLOR OLSON?

Knoxville (WVLT) - Who is the man accused of brutally stabbing 21 year-old Johnia Berry to death over two years ago? Volunteer TV's Lauren Davis has been looking into it. Olson, 22, has a previous criminal history that dates back three years and stretches across both Knox and Sevier Counties. He was charged with credit card fraud in 2004. In 2005, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor theft. Also in 2004, he was charged with harassment. Just this past Friday, he was charged with theft and aggravated burglary. Olson grew up in the Farragut area. He went to schools in Knox County up until he was in the 9th grade. Volunteer TV spoke with his assistant principal from 8th grade and a friend of Olson's current girlfriend. Olson's personal life is a mystery, to even his girlfriend and her friends. "He didn't really talk that much, he was really quiet and kinda strange," says Natalie Godfrey. Godfrey knows Olson from a softball field on Northshore, where Olson cheered on his current girlfriend. Natalie says she played softball with Olson's girlfriend for five years and met Olson when he started coming to their games. "I was very surprised, so weird to think it happened to someone wo close," says Godfrey. Years before, Taylor Olson walked the halls at West Valley Middle School in 1999 after transferring from Farragut Middle School. Frank Scimonelli was the assistant principal at the middle school when Olson attended classes there. "He had a likable personality, he was never a violent child or anything that would resemble anything like that," says Scimonelli. A much different person than the Olson arrested Monday and videotaped in his black and white jumpsuit, saying he was sorry. "He didn't really talk that much, he was really quiet and kinda strange," said Scimonelli. In addition to West Valley and Farragut Middle Schools, Olson also attended Bearden High School. He left there in 2000 to transfer out of state. Volunteer TV tried to speak with Olson's girlfriend, but her brother told us she has no comment at this time.
