THANKS DARLENE AND CURRENT STATUS
As many of you are praying for Rotina and it has been a while since I have given an update, I am sending a BCC of the reply to Darlene below.Darlene:About a week ago, we again thought we had lost Rotina as she was unable to focus clearly and just lay staring at the ceiling unresponsive. However, I had to meet with a representative of the Tennessee Department of Transportation named Denise. Speaking with her, she was aware that Rotina had developed cancer and told me she too had dealt with colon cancer having a portion of her colon removed and was at stage 3 also. During the course of our conversation, she was telling me of the first time she went for chemo. She said as she entered the building she met a little six year old, blond-haired blue-eyed girl. The little girl started asking her if she was there to have chemo, if she had a port, if she knew she would be bald, if she was scared and other questions. This little girl said she went through all the above questions and finally decided she had to get over it and accept things as they were. Very insightful for a young lady of six. At any rate, the office where the children have their chemo is separate from the adults but, against the wishes of her mother, the little girl insisted on showing Denise to her chemo department and while there she visited with the nurses and other cancer patients in the room. Finally her mother insisted she come along so out the door she went. After her chemo, Denise had been so inspired, she wanted to give the little girl a gift and going to the office to inquire of her, she was told no one fitting that description was a patient and to this day has been unable to contact her even though her nurses saw and talked with the little girl. With all that said, I came home and related the story to Rotina. Within a couple of hours, Rotina was starting to show remarkable improvement. Prior to this I had to assist her with the use of the bathroom including undressing and dressing, she was not eating and as stated, for the most part, unresponsive. The next day, she was up and about and taking care of her own needs. They also have now cut back twice on her pain medicine. So... how is she doing? You would have to ask God because I can only say, at the present time, she is doing great considering all she has gone through. Sorry to take so long to respond. I have been very busy through all this and spend as much time with Rotina as possible.Have a great day and may God, in his wisdom, guide your path.David
